WHO WE ARE
CrossFit VFL is a strength and conditioning facility born organically for our original business, Verve For Life. We have a compelling desire to bring the fitness program we fell in love with, CrossFit, to people who want to improve their lives. Everyday our athletes do things they never imagined possible and continue to move the goal post for their health and fitness journey. The intensity of the training is what binds our community together. Our sense of community provides a platform for strength and improvement. As much as any CrossFit gym, we love the grit, grunt and gruel that CrossFit has brought to the fitness world. Unlike other boxes, our affiliate evolved from Verve For Life, an institution built upon moving the way your body was designed, nutrition as medicine and, keeping the mind and body connected and community unity through individual integrity. The CrossFit VFL experience fuses these foundations with the classic CrossFit experience with added perks. Our programming is not random - it is designed with progression and the intention to maximise your human potential. At CrossFit VFL, we love the spectacle of competitive CrossFit - the stuff you see on TV - but the majority of our clients just want to move better, feel better and look better naked! SO if that is you, we welcome you to the least intimidating CrossFit facility in area. Our programming is specifically designed to avoid a lot of overuse injuries that are commonly seen in CrossFit facilities. This comes from a history of our physiotherapists as Verve For Life treating these common injuries. Our broader range of services at Verve For Life means you have access to improve every facet of your health, not just your fitness. From physiotherapy to yoga, you're likely to find someone with expertise to lead you further along toward your goal. Our coaches are educated not only by some of the best coaches in the industry, but also locally by our physiotherapy and movement team. this means that they have not only developed a keen eye for movement problems that may lead to injury, but if you do have a specific injury - we've probably coached some with the same problem - adjusting movements, scaling weights to create workouts is something we pride ourselves on.

WHAT WE DO
At CrossFit VFL we have eliminated the risk of getting bored with the classic CrossFit method. The nature of our program is to prepare you for an imaginable fitness task. Since 2013 we have only repeated our benchmark workouts in order to assess progress and improvement. Everything we do is rooted in mastering proper human movement, in all its complexity and beauty. This begins with what CrossFit have defined as the ten general physical skills of fitness; cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy. These elements are woven into our programming. Movements are constantly varied for safe loading and recovery, and adhere to function as much as possible.
IS CFVFL FOR YOU?
You may think we are crazy for suggesting that CrossFit VFL is not a CrossFit gym for everyone, surely we want as many members as possible. As we strive for a supportive, improvement driven community of athletes that are willing to continue to learn, we want our members to be as well. We are excited about the possibilities a healthier life brings to you! The VFL way draws on as much knowledge and experience as possible to create a broad scope of training with the CrossFit methodology at its core. Constantly varied, functional movements delivered at high intensity are key, however, this is framed by a team dedicated to inspiring and educating you to long term health and reaching your individual goals. CFVFL is filled with fun and awesomeness (yes, it’s a word) so there is no room for massive egos or bad attitudes. Walk through our doors and you will find an environment of constant self improvement and positive attitudes.
HOW WE DO IT
CrossFit involves elements of gymnastics, olympic weightlifting and power lifting to name a few. Some of these skills can take a lifetime to perfect, yet a typical CrossFit class can have you attempting any of them in your first session. For a safe entry to the program we have a compulsory 3 step process to participating in group sessions. STEP ONE Complete a biomechanics movement screening with one of our physiotherapists at Verve For Life (just across Hillsborough Road) STEP TWO Complete our Foundation Program* in either three private sessions or six group sessions over two weeks. STEP THREE Attend “Bang For Your Buck” getting the best results through nutrition and fitness development (90mins every 2 weeks) *Foundations Program & Bang For Your Buck starts Jan 2018 - until then new CrossFitters can start in our regular sessions.
ALREADY DO CF?
If you are just visiting from out of town we would love to be your base while you are in town.* If you would like CrossFit VFL to be your new home we would love to chat to you first. Get the run down (see below) then get in touch to set up a time to chat. You may not need to complete the foundations program, but this must be demonstrated when you get the run down. *prior CrossFit experience required - if this is you complete our visitors form and waiver to book your first session.
THE RUN DOWN
Joining CrossFit VFL means you will join our community who will become a part of your life most days so we would love to meet you and show you around. The run down is an orientation of sorts so you can check out what we do and we can find out a bit more about you, it is also the perfect opportunity to answer any questions you may have about us. *Drop-ins while sessions are running are welcome, however we would love to give your our full attention so a booking is preferable.
